Flicker Is Developing Their New Tool For Photo Hack Day

Just in time for the August 20-21 Photo Hack Day, Flickr has unleashed some new tools for providing real-time photo data to web apps.That means you can soon look forward to apps that make more extensive — and immediate — use of what’s going on in your Flickr photo stream and those of your friends.
Back in June, the photo-sharing service allowed developers to access photos and favorites from a user’s contacts in their applications using some of Flickr’s nifty PuSH API methods.
As Flickr’s “nils” noted in the Flickr developer blog, those methods were “pretty neat, but that barely scratches the surface of stuff that happens on Flickr that people might be interested in. So we added some more stuff to subscribe to.”
The new APIs make use of Pubsubhubbub (for instant notifications when something is published — say, a new photo) and allow developers to grab a lot more interesting data for their users, including:

    Photos of you
    Photos of your contacts
    Your photos and favorites
    Photos from a specific area (using geodata)
    Photos with a certain tag or tags
    Images from the Flickr Commons
    And, of course, photos and favorites from your contacts

When grabbing photos from the Commons, you can specify a particular institution or institutions to pull from — for example, you could just get pics from the Smithsonian and the White House. Or, you could scrape all photos and updates from the Flickr Commons in real time.
As for geodata, you can specify an area using a point and radius or a set of WOE IDs, the subscribe to images from that area. This would be handy for getting a real-time stream of photos of tourists “holding up” the Leaning Tower of Pisa, to name a terrible example that should never be implemented by anyone.
Etsy developer Kellan Elliot-McCrea was kind enough to post about how to get started with the new APIs, including some lovely PHP snippets.
Flickr will be at Photo Hack Day (or, more accurately, Photo Hack Weekend) in New York City this weekend. Flickr dev Paul Mison will be on hand to talk about the Flickr APIs and answer questions.

Hackers Stole $217,000 From The Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority (MECA)

Computer hackers broke into MECA's computer and payroll systems last month and stole $217,000, according to a computer security blogger who detailed the crime in an online post. The Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority on Thursday acknowledged that it was a victim in July of what it called an "Eastern European based cyber scheme." But the agency that runs the CenturyLink Center Omaha and TD Ameritrade Park declined to discuss the case in detail.

Although $217,000 was stolen, MECA reportedly was able to reverse a $147,000 fraudulent transfer, leaving $70,000 unrecovered. In a statement Thursday to The World-Herald, MECA said it has cybercrime insurance that should cover the loss. However, the organization's chief financial officer told security blogger Brian Krebs that MECA faces a $25,000 deductible and the expense of a computer forensic investigation.
In its statement, MECA said it has been in close contact with the FBI, and the local FBI office said it is investigating.
"This was an important lesson to us about vulnerability in the online world," MECA said. "We have changed several online banking security procedures."

In a post this week on his Krebs on Security blog, Krebs, a former Washington Post reporter who tracks Internet and computer security issues, quotes Lea French, MECA's chief financial officer. She says the problems started when an employee opened an email attachment infected with a virus that steals passwords.
Kreb's post says MECA had refused many security protections offered by its bank.
French told the blogger that had those protections been in place, the theft wouldn't have happened. "We thought that would be administratively burdensome," French said in the post, "and I was more worried about internal stuff, not somebody hacking into our systems."
After gaining entry through the infected email, the hackers used MECA's own online banking credentials to add at least six people, so-called money mules, to the payroll, Krebs' post said. The hackers, who French said appeared to be familiar with the payroll system, "wasted no time" setting up fraudulent transfers, according to the blog post.
Said French, "They knew exactly what they were doing. ... They appear to be very good at what they do."
The money mules, who were recruited through fraudulent work-at-home offers, received the transfers and, knowingly or not, helped launder the money, according to the post. The article says $9,000 was sent to a Florida man, who then transferred the funds to three people in eastern Europe. The post says MECA has since added security features to its online banking account.

MECA, in its statement, said it retained a national security technology firm and ran an extensive forensic analysis that determined that the incident was isolated to one computer. No personal information about employees or guests was compromised, MECA said.

"All of this is a day late and a dollar short, I guess," French says in the blog post. "Why isn't someone shouting on the rooftops about this fraud?"

Internal Collision Between Anonymous Team, Group Members Are Quitting

Internal collision between  Anonymous team,  members are quitting Anon group, and the main caused described by them si Lulzsec and Antisec movement. An alleged member of  Anonymous has apparently outed himself and quit. The UK-based hacker, who says his real name is Matthew, operated under the pseudonym “SparkyBlaze” during his time with Anonymous. As to his reasons for leaving the group, he points mainly to LulzSec, the AntiSec movement, and Anonymous’ leadership.

Mathew said :-
“When I started with Anon I thought I was helping people but over the past few months things inside anon have changed,” the hacker said in a statement posted to the Web. “I am mostly talking about AntiSec and LulzSec. They both go against what I stand for (and what anonymous says they stand for). Antisec has released gig after gig of innocent peoples information. For what? What did they do? Does anon have the right to remove the anonymity of innocent people? They are always talking about peoples right to remain anonymous so why are they removing that right?” To the Anonymous members he leaves behind, SparyBlaze adds, “You are not helping anyone.” He continues, “Think about the long run. Some thinking now can save you some large legal bills later. And yes i will be there when you get out of court to say: I told you so. There are other ways to help people, just don’t go to anon you are not hurting the governments you are hurting yourselves in the long run.”

To see Matthew's full statement and the reason why he is quitting cheek the following link where he has described everything.

Else You Can See the Statement of Matthew Here:-

"Ok,

So Over The Past Few Days I Have Been At A Cross road With Anonymous. Why? Because I Started To Think.

So When I Started With Anon I Thought I Was Helping People But Over The Past Few Months Things Inside Anon Have Changed. I Am Mostly Talking About AntiSec And LulzSec. They Both Go Against What I Stand For (And What Anonymous Says They Stand For). AntiSec Has Released Gig After Gig Of Innocent Peoples Information. For What? What Did They Do? Does Anon Have The Right To Remove The Anonymity Of Innocent People? They Are Always Talking About Peoples Right To Remain Anonymous So Why Are They Removing That Right?

Now I Could Talk for Hours On Why I Have Came To This Choice But I Don't Think Anyone Would Or  Read It Or Care. So I Will Just Say Some Key Points:

They Are Removing Peoples Right To Anonymity, A Right Which They Claim To Protect And Uphold.

Sending Some Packets To A Server And Putting Info On-line Is Not Helping Or Solving Anything

Anonymous DOES Have A Leader Ship And They Don't Give 2 Fucks About Us. Think, When Anons Were Arrested For DDoSing Paypal A While Back Was There A Mass Free Anon Operation?. Did They Put-Out Press Releases And Start Donations For Them?. No They Did One TV Interview And Fed Them To The Lions But When TopIary Was Arrested They Started #FreeTopIary We All Know He Is A "Higher Up" In Anon And They Started A Op For Him. You Think Those Donations Are Going To Topiary? Why Start A Op For Him? Well I Think It Is Because Of 2 Things:

    - Press (Anon Is The Biggest Fucking Media Whore I Have Ever Seen)

    - TopIary Is A Anon Who They Give A Fuck About

Now You May Think I Am Mad But All The Proof Is There. I Am Not Saying People In Anon Are All Fags, Some Thing They Are Helping. But They Have Been Tricked Into Thinking It. Truth Is Anonymous Hasn't Brought Down Governments. The People Have. If You Was A Dictator you Wouldn't Give a Fuck About People Taking Down Your Site. You Would Give A Fuck About The People Rioting And Wanting You Dead.

Anonymous Has Prayed On Peoples Willingness To Help Others. And Most Of Them Are Kids Who Don't Understand What They Are Doing Can Fuck Up There Lives And The IRC Wont Help Them.

I Could Put More But I Don't See The Point.

A Message To The Governments:

If You Hate Anon, Don't Arrest The Kids. Arrest The Leaders. Without Them Everything Will Fall To Shit. All The Recruitment Will Stop And Then The People Will Start To Think And Understand That Anon Is Not Helping Anyone.

A Message To The Leaders Of Anon:

Fuck You Can't Wait Till You All Get Arrested :D

And If One Anon Sees The Truth Every Week Then Your Time Is Running Out

A Message To The Anon's:

Quit While You Still Can, You Are Not Helping Anyone And You Need To Think About The Long Run. Some Thinking Now Can Save You Some Large Legal Bills Later. And Yes I Will Be There When You Get  Out Of Court To Say: I Told You So. There Are Other Ways To Help People, Just Don't Go To Anon You Are Not Hurting The Governments You Are Hurting Yourselves In The Long Run. And No I Am Not Saying I Agree With What The Governments Are Doing But I Also Do Not Agree With Anon.

You Cant Arrest A Idea But You Can Throw A Kid In Jail And Fuck Up Their Life.

Don't Do The Crime If You Can't Do The Time.

Ps:

I Am Not Saying Everything Anon Has Done Is Pointless Things Like Getting Internet To People When Governments Cut It Off I Support. I Am Just Saying Most Of It Isn't Helping Anyone And Is Just Getting Kids Arrested.

I Would Like to Thank People Like:
@th3j35t3r
@sambowne
@AnonTangoDown
@providesecurity
And Everyone Else Who Has Been Spreading The Truth About Anon.
Thanks

SparkyBlaze

For Proof That I Am Not Trolling:

My Name Is Matthew And I Live In The UK, Manchester And No I Wont Post My Address And Phone Numbers Because I Know I Will Have Pizzas And Prank Calls To My House (That In It's Self Is More Proof That You Are All Kids). If You Want To Know More Then By All Means Dox Me. Remove My Right To Remain Anonymous.

25 Years Old Guy Busted While Attempting to Hack Facebook Server

A  25 year old Brit allegedly used "considerable technical expertise" to hack into Facebook's servers.
Student Glenn Steven Mangham from York is currently on trial at Westminster magistrates' court for five charges under the Computer Misuse Act including adapting, supplying or offering to supply  software that ensures users can hack into Facebook's servers.

Mangham was arrested by the Metropolitan Police's Central e-Crime Unit in June this year for "computer hacking offences".
It is alleged that that between April 27 and May 9, Mangham hacked into a Facebook puzzle server that allows developers to test their skills, several times. Furthermore, it is also alleged he attempted to hack into a Facebook mailman server run that manages email distribution lists, as well as trying to gain access to the Facebook phabricator server, which offers tools for third-party app developers.
"This is what can be described as a hacking case," lawyer for the prosecution, Matthew McCabe, said.
While on bail, Mangham has been barred from accessing the web from any device.

"The court feels it will be safer if there was no access to the internet which will reduce the temptation for your son to go on to Facebook," said Judge Nicholas Evans, who is preceding over the case.

Facebook said no personal details had been compromised during the attempted hacks and the social network had been working with Scotland Yard and the FBI as they "take any attempt to hack our internal systems extremely seriously".
According to a news daily
"this is one of the first investigations into a hacking attempt on the social network and detectives were not aware of any hacking attempts "to this extent".
