Anonymous Declared #Operation Britain

Anonymous Group has declared #Operation Britain to expose Media, Govt. Police and their corruption and negligence while ruling country and so on.

According to the Official Press Release of Anonymous (#OpBritain):-

".. . Citizens of Britain,

The riots that we have witnessed over the last week, whilst violent and misguided, are a product of decades of neglect inflicted on your country by various governments. We do not condone mindless thuggery, but that does not stop us from seeing the reality behind it.

Your politicians and the media do their best to avoid seeing that reality. They would rather manipulate public anger in order to cloud judgment and create division. They will use these riots as an excuse to withdraw civic freedoms, increase draconian police powers, and discourage legitimate protest. By placing their emphasis on mindless criminality, your politicians mask the extent to which a significant section of society is stuck in an impoverished way of life with little hope for the future.

Anonymous senses your displeasure and witnesses the iron fist of the state being used more and more often to put down dissent before it begins. We note also the ever increasing tide of propaganda issued to justify these repressive acts. The law is no longer the protector of the citizens but the protector of a wealthy few from the many, who have very little. Justice has become yet another commodity that only the wealthy can afford.

We sympathise with the anger that seethes under the facade of your country's diplomatic image. It is time to take a stand and realise that solutions will not be found in today's corrupt political landscape. You should seize this opportunity to rally for freedom. Anonymous stands with you in this struggle and will fight alongside you in the battle for permanent change. Let your enemies stand forewarned.

Saturday October 15th 2011 will be your opportunity for rebellion. We call on Britain to unite and organise peacefully. Unions, anti-cuts groups, community organisations, students, activists, citizens: you know your political system is not fit for purpose. Rally your supporters and stand together in holding mass protests in your major cities. Together you can send a powerful message to your government: you are the people of Britain and your voice WILL be heard.

Yours sincerely,
Operation Britain

We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Expect us.

GIF Vulnerability Patch For Photoshop Mac Users

The folks at Adobe have been keeping themselves busy this week patching several security holes in their software, including one affecting Photoshop Mac users.
According to a recent technical note on Adobe's site, those using the company’s professional photo editing software on a Mac are advised to patch immediately using Photoshop Standard Multiplugin CS5/CS5.1.
Adobe has recently learned that opening a GIF image of unknown origin may have a negative outcome. Here’s the situation in the Flash maker’s own words:
“The standard multiplugin update addresses a security vulnerability in the GIF file format, where opening a malicious GIF file would cause the application to crash.”

“This update is recommended for anyone who opens GIF files in Photoshop,”
Adobe says.

Surely those editing multiple pictures at the same time would hate to see Photoshop crash before them simply because they opened a GIF image.

It works on systems running Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Leopard) and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and it applies to one of the following language versions of Photoshop CS5 or Photoshop CS5.1: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Korean, Japanese, Czech, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, or Romanian.

After downloading the ".zip" file containing the Photoshop CS5/CS5.1 Standard Multiplugin Update, Mac users must decompress the contained file and drag it to a specific location where Photoshop is installed.

The full set of instructions, as posted on Adobe’s web site, follows below:
1. Download plugin update
2. Unzip plugin update
3. Open Unzipped plugin folder
4. Drag and drop (or copy and paste) Standard Multiplugin.plugin to Applications\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (or CS5.1)\Plug-ins\Filters
5. Replace the existing file(s) when prompted
6. Relaunch PS

BeEF v0.4.2.8 (Alpha)

BeEF, the Browser Exploitation Framework is a professional security tool provided for lawful research and testing purposes. It allows the experienced penetration tester or system administrator additional attack vectors when assessing the posture of a target. The user of BeEF will control which browser will launch which exploit and at which target.
BeEF hooks one or more web browsers as beachheads for the  launching of directed exploits in real-time. Each browser is likely to be within a different security context. This provides additional vectors that can be exploited by security professionals.BeEF provides an easily integratable framework that demonstrates the impact of browser and Cross-site Scripting issues in real-time. Development has focused on creating a modular framework. This has made module development a very quick and simple  process. Current modules include Metasploit, port scanning, keylogging, TOR detection and more.

This release contains support for the XssRays extension, which is still in pilot stage and will be improved further in the next release. The framework now loads faster due to the dynamically loading modules. The core enhancements has had a great impact on the command module navigation. This should be quite noticeable.
Unfortunately, this release also has a bug that prevents MSF from interacting with BeEF. The author mentions that this will be taken care of pretty soon. Until then, it is recommended that the latest version be downloaded via the SVN repository.

Ubertooth-r314 (Passive Bluetooth Monitoring Tool)

Ubertooth is an open source 2.4 GHz wireless development platform suitable for passive bluetooth monitoring. It aims to be the world’s first open source and affordable bluetooth monitoring and development platform. It contains both – hardware and software.

This is the official change log:

Enumeration bug fix: The USB descriptor in the bluetooth_rxtx firmware reported one too many interfaces. This broke enumeration on Microsoft Windows operating systems, affecting both native Windows operation and operation in a virtual machine on top of a Windows host operating system.
Firmware revision reporting: The bluetooth_rxtx firmware is now stamped with the svn revision number at compile time. It is possible to query an attached board for its revision with ‘ubertooth-util -v‘, but this only works if newer firmware is installed on the board.
Assembly_test firmware and procedure: Use this firmware and procedure to test a newly assembled board or to test any board to determine if there are hardware failures. The procedure does not depend on any host code; It verifies that passive Bluetooth monitoring works by looking for inquiry packets transmitted by a nearby device.
specan_ui.py renamed to ubertooth-specan-ui
usb_dfu.py renamed to ubertooth-dfu
Many small bug fixes and enhancements

US Released National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education Strategic Plan

The U.S. government will work to develop an "unrivaled" cybersecurity workforce and broaden the nation's pool of skilled cyberworkers under a draft cybersecurity education plan released Friday by a U.S. agency.
The goal of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) plan, released by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is to improve U.S. cybersecurity by focusing on education, the agency said.

"The cybersecurity vulnerabilities in our government and critical infrastructure are a risk to national security, public safety, and economic prosperity," the agency said in the draft plan. "Now is the time to begin a coordinated national initiative focused on cybersecurity awareness, education, training, and professional development. The United States must encourage cybersecurity competence across the nation and build an agile, highly skilled workforce capable of responding to a dynamic and rapidly developing array of threats."

Many cybersecurity experts and tech vendors have long called for an increased government focus on cybersecurity education and training. NICE grew out of the U.S. White House's Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative, released in early 2008. The plan focuses on public awareness as well as school- and college-based education. One of the plan's goals is to raise awareness of cyberrisks among U.S. residents.

"The American public has grown increasingly dependent on online activities to manage all aspects of daily life and remains largely unaware of the risks threatening their privacy, safety, and financial security," the plan said. "This initiative needs to make more people aware that malicious actors exist and are ready to take advantage of people's willingness to accept information from or provide personal information over the Internet."

NIST also called for elementary and high schools to improve math and science education and to increase the number and quality of computer science courses. New incentives are needed to support graduate-level cybersecurity research, the agency said.
NIST asked for public comments on the draft plan, with responses due by Sept. 12. Comments should be entered into the Comment-Template_Draft-NICE.xls, available at http://go.usa.gov/KFw, and e-mailed to nicestratplan@nist.gov.
The second annual NICE workshop, "Shaping the Future of Cybersecurity Education -- Engaging Americans in Securing Cyberspace," will be Sept. 20 to 22 at the NIST campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The workshop will include discussion of the strategic plan. Representatives of the U.S. government, academia and business are expected to attend.
