This time the targets ware Registration of Persons Dept, Registrar General's Dept,  Public Trustee Dept, Official Language Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, Digital Group of Companies of Sri_lanka.

Several Bangladeshi Govt Sites Along With Uninor Bangladesh & Few College Sites Hacked By Sen Haxor

After a long time yet again Bangladeshi cyber fence is facing cyber attacks from India. This time a young Indian hacker named Sen Haxor targeted several high profile Bangladeshi websites. Among them there are four Bangladeshi Govt sites which have fallen victim to this cyber attack. Those sites are National Mushroom Development & Extension Centre, Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), Govt. Bangla College & Rangpur Zonal Settelment Official Web-portal. Not only Govt website, also the hacker hit  the official website of many Bangladeshi Colleges and defaced the index page. Those colleges are Comilla Victoria Govt. College, Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College, Ashuganj Sar Karkhana College, CHITTAGONG MODEL SCHOOL & COLLEGE, Birganj College & Panchbari Mahabiddyalay. The story is not over yet, in this phase of cyber attack also penetrated Uninor Bangladesh GPCIC. In a pastebin note the hacker has released the full database, including usernames, password hash & other several login credentials. Though the reason of this hack is not relevant but still in the deface page the hacker represented this hack as a payback of the last Indo-BD cyber war which took place in February this year.

Yet another big bang from well-known hackers group Teamgreyhat. This time one Govt. server rooted by TGH, not only that but also they have hacked more than 5000 sites hosted in 5 different web-servers, including many UK sites, Television sites, Gov bodies, Business Organization and many more. The list of all those hacked sites are available on a pastebin release, where TGH also vows to attack Indian Govt.

Brazil govt is facing massive cyber attack. Guess who is behind this, yes you are absolutely right its Hacktivist Anonymous again. Operation Megaupload (#OpMegaupload) continues. In this attack they have bring down many Govt sites of Brazil including Portal Brasil, BOA VISTA ONLINE, Senado Federal, City Of South Flor da Serra, Good Fishing - Sports & Adventure, E-GOVERNANCE, City of St. John d'Alliance, Prefecture Tabapuã, Mikrocenter | Provider Access Internet Via Radio and so on. According to the twitter account of Anonymous & Anon Leader Sabu there are mainly 2 guys conducting this cyber attack & they are Havittaja and hard AnonymousBr.
Earlier this week Anonymous attacked websites of Brazil's federal district and Tangara da Serra city to protest the forced closure of Megaupload.com. We also like to give you remember that this operation started because Federal Authority has shutdown megaupload and in payback Anon bring down US Dept. Of Justice, FBI & many other federal authorities sites. Anonymous hit CBS broadcasting in that attack they have gained full access on the CBS server and deleted everything. Also another hacker group named Underground Nazi also contributed in #OpMegaupload while hacking into the official website of UFC.  Then the turn of #Antisec came and they have hacked U.S. Government IT Security Website OnGuardOnline. We must have say that #OpMegaupload is one of the biggest and continues operation ever took place in the cyber space where the whole world has contributed. The main object of this operation is to protest SOPA and PIPA bills. In this protest Federal Authorities, Many Govt bodies and other very important and high profile sites who ware supporting SOPA have been damaged very badly.

Cyber space of Lebanon faced massive cyber attack. Hackers have broke into the Govt server and defaced four Lebanon Govt websites. Attackers are claiming themselves to be the part of infamous Anonymous. According to the hacker four websites of the Lebanon government get defaced in an act of apparent solidarity with protests staged this week in Beirut calling for a secular government. One of the official twitter account of Anonymous (YourAnonNews) announced the attack on twitter: "Lebanon pwnt - http://www.economy.gov.lb/ | http://www.beirut.gov.lb/ (via @Ihab39) #Anonymous" LOLzzz" 
The official sites for the Directorate General of Lebanese General Security, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, and the Municipality of Beirut became the victim of this cyber attack. Still the index page of those sites showing "Under Maintenance".  It is said that the attack is allegedly linked to the protests that took place in Beirut when 400 people rallied to call for social justice, reforms and to revive the anti-sectarian movement that began two years ago.

Hong Kong Govt Opens a New Cyber Security Center Worth $9 Million

Now a days cyber attack has became one of the most challenging issue for almost every country and its Government. Previously we have seen cyber awareness were mainly limited to the first world countries like USA, England, Australia and few other European countries. While keeping in mind the rising amount of cyber threats and its output, now both second world and the third world countries have also taken this issues very seriously. To get rid of this burring challenge and to make it's cyber fence safe and secure The Hong Kong Govt launched a Cyber Security Center on December 7 to enhance the city’s internet security and protection of critical infrastructure, and strengthen the defense against cyber-attacks. Hong Kong Govt has spent HK$9 million (£730,000) for this new Cyber Security Center in a bid to tackle the growing threat to critical infrastructure in the Special Administrative Region of China. The Center  which will operate under the Technology Crime Division of the Commercial Crime Bureau, will start with a force of 27 police personnel, ranking from Police Constable to Chief Inspector. “The incidence of cyber-attacks is increasing,” said Tsang Wai-hung, Commissioner of Police, during the inauguration ceremony of the Center  “Police recognize the need to respond to the worldwide cyber crime phenomenon, particularly cyber-attacks aimed at critical infrastructures, by enhancing our readiness and capability to counter such threats.

So far the Cyber Security Center has been given four main responsibilities as follows:-
  1. It will strengthen collaboration with other government departments and stakeholders, both local and overseas, concerning cyber-attacks against critical infrastructures. 
  2. It will monitor the flow, but not the content, of data traffic of major infrastructure systems.
  3. The Center will collect intelligence to analyse cyber-attacks, and provide an immediate response when necessary.
  4. The Center will conduct research into cyber security and cyber-attacks, and perform security audits to maintain the protection of Hong Kong.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the Center will support the daily operations of the Technology Crime Division in the prevention and detection of technology crimes.

In this cyber war Pakistani hackers also contributed in behalf of Bangladesh. In their report both Hackers Media & TSR said the hackers group from India named Indishell officially declared the cyber war and hacked 6 high profile Bangladesh sites & Govt sites. Later in addition they have attacked more than 100 BD govt sites. In counter attack both Bangladesh Cyber Army (BCA) and 3xp1r3 Cyber Army has more than 850 Indian sites. The hackers also hit National Informatics Centre (NIC), NDTV and many other Indian Govt and other important sites. Hackers from Bangladesh (BCA) also performed massive DDoS attack on many Indian Govt sites. In a pastebin release hacker posted those target site list. Later it was the turn of Pakistan. Dangerous hacker from Paksitan named Shadow008 with another hacker named H4x0rL1f3 hacked more than 2K Indian sites. The hackers claimed that the main object was to hit Indian cyber fence & to defend Bangladeshi hackers in this ongoing cyber war. The list of those hacked sites can be found on a pastebin release. Earlier we have seen such cyber war between India & Pakistan, Israel & Saudi Arabia, KHS & German Hackers and so on. But this is the 1st time when India & Bangladesh fought against each other.

Newly formed hacker group named "TeamHav0k" continues their Operation XSS #OPXSS. Like earlier they have found cross site scripting vulnerability in many high profile websites. This time NASA, adidas Official Store, SPIKE TV Official Site, Brighton& Hove City council,  Air Accident Investigation Branch [Govt of UK], Portal and Information Services of Tocantins [Govt of Brazil] became the victim. In a pastebin release the hacker group claimed that using the vulnerabilities an attacker can perform cookie stealing, XSS & XSSF Tunneling and such nasty things. Which indeed can create serious harm for those vulnerable sites. They have also found redirection vulnerability on the official website of Sony Global Headquarters later it was patched. 
Earlier TeamHav0k figure out XSS vulnerability in the official site Huffingtonpost, EA, IGN, NYTimes & many other.

DNSChanger Trojan Targeting US Govt Sites 

Security researcher suspecting that still malware named DNS Changer still targeting US Govt sites. Even researcher said that hundreeds of Govt sites are infected with that particular malware. 

Brief About DNSChanger:- 
The malware, known as the “DNSChanger Trojan,” quietly alters the host computer’s Internet settings to hijack search results and to block victims from visiting security sites that might help scrub the infections. DNSChanger frequently was bundled with other types of malware, meaning that systems infected with the Trojan often also host other, more nefarious digital parasites.

Earlier few guys ware busted for using the Trojan to control more than four million computers in over 100 countries — including an estimated 500,000 in the United States. Investigators timed the arrests with a coordinated attack on the malware’s infrastructure. The two-pronged attack was intended to prevent miscreants from continuing to control the network of hacked PCs, and to give Internet service providers an opportunity to alert customers with infected machines. Computers still infected with DNSChanger are up against a countdown clock. As part of the DNSChanger botnet takedown, the feds secured a court order to replace the Trojan’s DNS infrastructure with surrogate, legitimate DNS servers. But those servers are only allowed to operate until March 8, 2012. Unless the court extends that order, any computers still infected with DNSChanger may no longer be able to browse the Web.

Not only Anonymous but also a well know hacker from Pakistan Cyber Force (PCF) named Hitcher joined the China rampage. Today he has blown more than one hundred of Chinese Govt. websites. The list of all those hacked sites with deface mirror can be found on a pasie release by the hacker. Not only China Govt but also the official website of Central Statistical Agency of Government of Ethiopia (CSA) get compromised in this attack. The hacker has also created a deface mirror in Zone-Hack. Hitcher is widely known for defacing high profile websites, his last two hack was United Bank of India & IDBI Paisabuilder.

Official website of Library of Congress (Govt. of United States) faced cyber attack from a newly formed hacker group named BlitzSec. The hackers have found SQL-i vulnerability on the Library of Congress official site which leads them to gain access on the database and exposed many credentials. In a pastebin relase BlitzSec revealed full database including DB Tables, Columns, User-id, Email, Password, Admin details and so on. 
Earlier this group has found serious security flaws in AOL.com & Ask.com which can even lead to cookie catching attacks.

Iran Accused of Carrying out Cyber Attacks Against US Banks Over Anti Islamic Movie Issue

Since last few days, the conspiracy with the 'Anti Islamic Movie' was the headline in every where. We have seen global violence and a mass protest mainly came from Muslim brotherhood. This protest was also touched the internet, and as expected Muslim hackers joined the movement, which cost many damages for the cyber fence. Thousands of websites became victim of cyber attack, and among them several US banks also faced huge disturbance. This protest takes a new direction when Govt of Iran announced the blockage of Google Inc's search engine and its email service. "Google and Gmail will be filtered throughout the country until further notice," an official identified only by his last name, Khoramabadi, said, without giving further details. The Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) said Google ban was connected to the anti-Islamic film posted on the company's YouTube site which has caused outrage throughout the Muslim world. 
This stand of Iran Govt created a controversy, which make them responsible for carrying out cyber attacks against US banks. According to NBC news report US National Security officials accused the Iranian government for engaging cyber attacks against US Banks mainly Bank of America. But when the ball goes to Iran's side then they completely denies the blame, while saying "We officially announce that we haven't had any attacks," This statement came from the Head of Iran's civil defense agency Gholam Reza Jalali when he was asked about the report. The western media reports alleged on Friday that Muslim hackers have repeatedly attacked Bank of America Corp, JPMorgan Chase & Co and Citigroup Inc over the past year as part of a broad cyber campaign targeting the United States. Security sources told Chicago Tribune and NBC News that the attacks on the three largest US banks originated in Iran, but it is not clear if they were launched by the state, groups working on behalf of the government, or "patriotic" citizens. 

Here we want to refresh your memory while digging up a story, when Iran Govt decided a permanent Internet ban in Iran, where Iran Government has announced its plans to establish a National Intranet within five months. The Iranian minister for Information and Communications Technology, announced the setting up of a national Intranet and the effective blockage of services like Google, Gmail, Google Plus, Yahoo and Hotmail, in line with Iran's plan for a "clean Internet." And that five months is almost over, so may be the blockage of Google came due to that reason, or may be not. We suggest our readers that, it will be better if you ask yourself, that whether Iran was indeed responsible for the cyber attack or not??!!

Earlier the world seen not only Anonymous but also hackers from different of the world joined in the protest against controversial act like SOPA, PIPA, ACTA or CISPA. Quit similar scenario happens to Philippines, as soon as the anti-cybercrime law get passed, immediately hackers shown a massive protest against it. The cyber fence of Philippine was heavily disturbed since Wednesday. At the very first stage of the attack the hacker group calling themselves "Anonymous Philippines" targeted several government, civil society and other private websites of Philippine and defaced them. As of Wednesday midnight, the website of Bangko Sentralng Pilipinas, Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, the American Chamber of Commerce, and the Philippine Anti-Piracy Team succumbed to the cyber-attacks. The websites of the anti-smoking campaign unit of the Department of Health and think tank Institute for Development and Econometric Analysis followed suit, bringing to six the number of websites attacked. One hactivist announced the challenge to commit cyber-crime in social networking site Facebook by a user #pR.isOn3r.  The post hinted in its footnote that the BSP website was a target.

“Challenge Accepted,” the hacktivist said. “If speaking up against idiocy in government and unconstitutional amendments is a crime, then I am PROUD TO BE A CYBER CRIMINAL.”
“We are anonymous. We are Legion. United as one. Divided by none,” the hacktivist said. “The corrupt fear us. The honest support us. The heroic join us. Expect us.”

This attack followed by few more Govt sites and they are- National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and the Food Development Center sites.

“This domain name associated with GOV.PH has been seized pursuant to an order issued by Anonymous Philippines,
“A federal grand jury has indicated several individuals and entities allegedly involved in the operation of this website / department / office charging them with the following federal crimes: Conspiracy, Violations of Human Rights, Corruption, Copyright infringement, Money Laundering, PIRACY, Misuse of Devices, Libel, Plagiarism, and Destruction of Freedom of Speech.”



The attack is yet not over, The government portal of  Philippine also faced cyber attack. A twitter account which is recognized as one of of legitimate of source of hacker collective anonymous, took responsibility of engaging denial of service (DoS) attack against www.gov.ph

Few days ago we have covered that hackers from Saudi Arabia named Group-XP has hacked more than 400K Israeli credit cards and they have openly posted on a pastebin release names, passwords, addresses, phone numbers and government ID numbers and so on. 0xOmar a hacker from Group-XP told "We decided to give the world a new year gift". Later Israel govt took this matter very seriously and vows to treat hackers like terrorists. But this threat of Govt. seems valueless to hackers. Today well known hacker group KHS aka Kosovo Hackers Security has did exactly same what Group-XP has done before. They have hacked more than 7000 Israeli credit cards.  Th3 Dir3ctorY, ThEtA.Nu, & X|CRIPO, three hackers from KHS openly posted all the credentials including full name of the card holder, CCV, card no, expiry date and so in tinypaste. Earlier this group has hacked many high profile websites including President of the Republic of Macedonia, Ukraine Govt. sites and many more. One of their major attack was taken place when hacker named Th3 Dir3ctorY has hacked the Hotmail server, and he managed to stop the entire Hotmail for more than 12 hrs. Today again they have proved their capability after leaking more than 7K credit card details.

Cyber Crime Cost $8 Billion Loss For India in Last 12 Months While Affecting 42 Million People 

In its annual cybercrime report, security firm Norton has estimated that India has lost more than $8 Billion; in Indian currency around 42,000 Crore in last twelve months. This big consumer cyber espionage has effected more than 42 million of people around the country. In terms of cost, this is a full 18 per cent increase. Against this, the global loss has been pegged at $110 billion. The study further notes that as many as 66 per cent of online adults in India have been a victim of cyber crime. During the past 12 months, as many as 56 per cent of online adults here have experienced cyber crime, over 1,15,000 victims per day, 80 victims per minute and over one every second.
According to the report, the average direct financial cost per victim is $192, which is up 18 per cent over 2011 when it was $163. One key finding this year is that both the cost per victim as well as social and mobile incidents are on the rise due to cybercrime. The study is based on the findings of self-reported experiences of over 13,000 adults across 24 countries, Norton by Symantec said in a statement. 
Globally, every second, 18 adults fall victim to cybercrime, resulting in over 1.5 million cybercrime victims each day. With losses totaling an average of $197 per victim across the world in direct financial costs, in the past 12 months, an estimated 556 million experienced cybercrime, representing 46 per cent of online adults, says the report. Last year, the figure was 45 per cent. "Cybercriminals are changing their tactics to target fast growing mobile platforms and social networks where consumers are less aware of security risks," says Norton by Symantec Asia director and internet safety advocate Effendy Ibrahim said. 
If we compare with other countries who are very much advance in IT then a very nasty truth will come appear, and that is being sound in IT still India is very much week and also careless of cyber security. This carelessness of Indian Govt has already cost maximum damage in terms of finance, defense, privacy and so on. India has already faced big damage in cyber space (both financially & reputation) from native countries like China, Pakistan, where sensitive data of Govt, defense, nuclear & space research has allegedly been stolen by cyber criminals. So far India was dam careless but couple of weeks ago things changed dramatically. And now the Indian Govt is working on a robust cyber security structure, Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh himself confirmed that from now on wards India will pay as much attention as possible to make the cyber fence digitally safe and secured.
