µTorrent Server Compromised & The Original Torrent Downloader Replaced With a Fake Anti-virus Named "Scareware"

World's famous torrent engine u Torrent server compromised.  Windows down-loader for u Torrent has benn replaced with a fake anti virus named "scareware"

According to the Bit Torrent Blog:-

This morning at approximately 4:20 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (UTC -7), the uTorrent.com and BitTorrent.com Web servers were compromised. Our standard Windows software download was replaced with a type of fake antivirus “scareware” program.
Just after 6:00 a.m. Pacific time, we took the affected servers offline to neutralize the threat. Our servers are now back online and functioning normally.
We have completed preliminary testing of the malware. Upon installation, a program called ‘Security Shield” launches and pops up warnings that a virus has been detected. It then prompts a user for payment to remove the virus. We recommend anyone who downloaded software between 4:20 a.m. and 6:10 a.m. Pacific time run a security scan of their computer.
We take the security of our systems and the safety of our users very seriously. We sincerely apologize to any users who were affected.
Clarification: This only affects users who downloaded software specifically from utorrent.com or bittorrent.com between the hours above this morning. Users who previously downloaded our software are not affected.

Update #2: After further analysis, we don’t believe BitTorrent.com or the BitTorrent Mainline/Chrysalis clients were part of the incident.

Special Offer From Lulzsec: Catch Me If You Can

"Catch Me If You Can" yes you all are right the famous Hollywood  Movie of Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio on Social Engineering, one of the Un-patched vulnerability ever.  Now Lulzsec one  of the most wanted hacker group  over the whole spectrum is exactly saying or we can say repeating the same words Catch Me If You Can LulzSec‘s tracks are still under observation by US authorities to get over this catch-me-if-you-can hacking group. Traversing through the hackers, left marks in Scotland Yard, authorities have trapped total of four suspected targets.
The LulzSec is also thought to be behind the Federal LLC (a U.S.-based security company) attack. The operational hacking strategies, used in this attack, were given a pseudonym-“Kayla.”
According to the US law enforcement agencies, 2011 has been entitled the year of hackers and security violation. Series of prestigious security breaches, by Anonymous (The hacking group), included breaches of agricultural company Monsanto and NATO, U.S. military contractor, Booz Allen Hamilton. Whereas the LulzSec group was involved in setting targets to take down, especially U.S. Senate, PBS, the CIA, sites and many more.
Though, searches and efforts were being carried out by the authorities worldwide to fight against this blatant LulzSec group, but still it seems challenging to trace them out. During these searches, sixteen people were eventually arrested by US officials for their cyber attacks on PayPal.
The streak of security breaches continues regardless of whatever efforts are being put by the authorities, it looks like as the group tends to play hide and seek on long term basis. Later on, a law enforcement site belonging to Texas Police Chiefs Association got hit by unusual malicious acts of Anonymous group.
Unlike the better-known Anonymous hacking group, LulzSec cyber attacks are not launched on the basis of political motivation, but the hacking group has strong connections with “antiSec” movement and do consider political reasons as their foundation to hit the specified target. The malicious acts of LulzSec are definitely entertaining them at one side, but a big loss of sensitive information on other.

Microsoft is Making Windows 8 Compatible For Mobile Devices

The software industry's attention is riveted on Microsoft. Software developers from around the world have convened at a conference, called Build, in Anaheim, Calif., where Microsoft will unveil details about Windows 8, the next version of its cash-cow PC operating system. Windows 8 is on course to replace Windows 7 roughly a year from now.
This won't be just another upgrade. Windows 8 is nothing less than the linchpin to Microsoft's strategy for keeping Windows relevant — if not resurgent — as the shift to the post-PC computing era unfolds.
"The stakes are huge," says Charles King, principal analyst at research firm Pund-IT. "The company must play outside its comfort zone, but if Microsoft succeeds, the potential opportunities could be significant."
Microsoft declined to comment, preferring to reveal technical details at Build, says Frank X. Shaw, corporate communications vice president.
Traditional PCs remain by far the most widely used computing tools out there. The installed base of Windows desktop and laptop computers in use in homes and businesses globally exceeds 807 million and is projected to top 920 million next year, according to market researcher Gartner. Even so, Microsoft has fallen behind as consumers and workers begin to spend more time using touch tablets and smartphones to work, play and socialize. Sales of smartphones will soar 56%, to 467.6 million, this year, while sales of touch tablets will grow nearly four times, to 69.8 million this year, Gartner says.
Internet-connected mobile devices that respond to fingertip touches, instead of a mouse and keyboard or a keypad, are all the rage. The soaring popularity of Apple's iPhone and iPad touch tablet and Google Android smartphones have, in turn, spawned a burgeoning universe of graphical, touch-enabled software apps.
Microsoft, meanwhile, has scrambled to keep up in smartphones and has been left in the dust on touch tablets.
Yet, Windows and the ubiquitous Office clerical suite remain pivotal to the software giant's future, generating combined revenue of $41.23 billion and operating income of $26.4 billion in Microsoft's 2011 fiscal year, ending June 30. However, Windows revenue dipped 1% to $4.7 billion in the fourth quarter. For the fiscal year, Windows revenue fell 2% to $19 billion, while Windows operating profit dropped 6% to $12.3 billion.
Those slippages underscore the notion that "the post-PC world is about smartphones and tablets and their blazingly fast rates of innovation," says Scott Ellison, mobile industry analyst at IDC. "Microsoft needs to prove it can be more than a slow follower."

FBI Said: Anonymous is Not so Anonymous Anymore

Anonymous is not so anonymous anymore. The computer hackers, chat-room denizens and young people who make up the loosely affiliated Internet collective have drawn the attention of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and other federal investigators. What was once a small group of pranksters has become a potential national security threat, federal officials say. The FBI has carried out more than 75 raids and arrested 16 people this year in connection with illegal hacking claimed by Anonymous.
Since June, Homeland Security has issued three “bulletins” warning cybersecurity professionals of hacking successes and future threats by Anonymous and related groups — including a call in Manhattan to physically occupy Wall Street on Sept. 17 to protest various U.S. government policies.
San Francisco police arrested more than 40 protesters last month during a rowdy demonstration organized by Anonymous that disrupted the evening commute. The group called for the demonstration after the Bay Area Rapid Transit system blocked cellphone service in San Francisco stations to quell a planned protest over a police shooting on a subway platform.
“Anonymous’ activities increased throughout 2011 with a number of high-profile attacks targeting both public- and private-sector entities,” one of the bulletins issued last month said.
Some members of the group have called for shutting down Facebook in November over privacy issues, though other Anonymous followers are disavowing such an attack, underscoring just how loosely organized the group is and how problematic it is to police.

“Anonymous insist they have no centralized operational leadership, which has been a significant hurdle for government and law enforcement entities attempting to curb their actions,” an Aug. 1 Homeland Security bulletin noted. “With that being said, we assess with high confidence that Anonymous and associated groups will continue to exploit vulnerable publicly available Web servers, Web sites, computer networks and other digital information mediums for the foreseeable future.”
Followers posting to Twitter and conversing on Internet Relay Chat insist there are no defined leaders of Anonymous and that it’s more of a philosophy than a formal club, though a small group of members do the most organizing online.

“Anonymous is not a group, it does not have leaders, people can do ANYTHING under the flag of their country,”
wrote one of the more vocal members who asked not to be identified.

“Anything can be a threat to National Security, really,” the member said in an e-mail interview. “Any hacker group can be.”
