E!Online Official Twitter Account Hijacked By Syrian Electronic Army (#twithackery) Fake Tweet Claimed Justin Bieber is Gay

The massive ongoing twitter hijacking also known as twithackery carried by carried by the infamous pro-Assad group of hackers known as the Syrian Electronic Army targeted another high profile twitter account. After the successful hijack of three high profile twitter account of CBS news followed by the hack of BBC and the Associated Press twitter account, now Syrian Electronic Army aka SEA have caught another big fish  that is E! Online -one of the leading resource of entertainment and celebrity gossip news. The official twitter account of E!Online that has over five million followers fallen victim to these dangerous hacker collective group. As per several legitimate sources this high valued twitter account was hacked on Saturday afternoon and subsequently posted several false tweets about a few celebrities, most specifically Justin Bieber. After the successful hijack, exactly like earlier the hacker group started tweeting false message. Among those One tweet read, “Exclusive: Justin Bieber to E!Online: I’m a gay,” followed by a shortlink.  Another read, “Exclusive: Selena Gomez tells E! she will fully supporting Justin in his coming out” [sic], also followed by a shortlink.  (Selena Gomez was Bieber’s girlfriend up until recently).  And another made reference to Angelina Jolie blaming Jordan for “the Syrian refugees’ atrocious conditions.” Here is screen capture of those fake tweets:- 

After this mishap security experts have figured out that many of those links associated with the above fake tweets redirecting users to malicious webpages. So users were urged not to click on the links. Not only the official twitter account, but also the hacking group also managed to infiltrate the E!’s text messaging system, sending hundreds of thousands of subscribers similar messages including an obscene message relating to President Barack Obama.

Several Twitter Accounts of CBS News (60Minutes, 48Hours & CBSDenver) Hacked By Syrian Electronic Army [#twithackery]

Yet again CBS one of the major commercial broadcasting television network of United States faced cyber attack. First it was hacker collective Anonymous who targeted CBS and managed to hack the TV network of CBS in January last year. The attack was done under the banner of Operation Megaupload. And now CBS have fallen victim of what it called twithackery, where hacker managed to gain temporary access of popular twitter accounts and broadcast fake tweets. This Sunday such twithackery targeted and compromised several twitter account of CBS. Infamous hacker community going by the name of Syrian Electronic Army claimed to have hijacked the twitter accounts of CBS, the list of the hijacked accounts include "60 Minutes" and "48 Hours" which is maintained by CBS news program. Later it has been reported that another twitter account @CBSDenver has also been hacked, during this ongoing cyber attack. CBS acknowledged the whole phenomena and later a CBS spokeswoman confirmed that the accounts had been compromised. "PLEASE NOTE: Our Twitter account was compromised earlier today. We are working with Twitter to resolve." - said the CBS spokesman. Another message from CBS said, "A message that was posted earlier to this account was not written or sent by @60Minutes or its staff."

Here is the list of those fake tweets came from the hijacked accounts of CBS:- 

From @60Minutes account we got the following message -

• "The US government is hiding the real culprit of the Boston bombing"
• "The US government is sponsoring a coup in Venezuela and a terrorist war in Syria"
• "Your duty is to protect your nation from the parasites that have taken your government"
• "Obama wants to destroy the Syrian and American people. We must stop this beast" 

Other messages claimed: "Syrian Electronic Army Was Here via @SyrianCyberArmy" and suggested the action was in response to the suspension of the @Official_SEA account. Tweets sent out on the @48Hours account reportedly included: "General Dempsey calls for #Obama's arrest under new anti-terror laws #48hours" As soon as the issue get spotted, CBS regain those hijacked accounts and immediately deleted those rouge messages. Later the two accounts @60Minutes and @48Hours has been suspended.

While fighting against the rising amount of cyber threats, the cyber security domain is getting stronger and developed everyday. But till today its not as up-to dated as it should be, and that is why every day the news of security breaches are being spotted in the wild. In the last few months we have been a slew of attacks against the following sites: Guild Wars 2, Gamigo, Blizzard, Yahoo, LinkedIn, eHarmony, Formspring, Android Forums, Gamigo,  Nvidia, Blizzard, Philips and Adobe. And it was the turn for Florida Panhandle College. According to sources, a massive security breach hit the main system of Florida Panhandle college, which effected the records of more than 300,000 students, faculty & other employees. Education officials said that the computer hackers accessed confidential information of staff and students in a massive security breach. A breach that at first involved employees at Northwest Florida State College was much larger than suspected and now potentially involves student records from across the state, state and college officials said. The Department of Education said hackers stole 200,000 records including names, Social Security numbers and birth dates for any student statewide who was eligible for Florida’s popular Bright Futures scholarships for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 school years. 

The hackers also stole more than 3,000 employee records, including some that contained confidential financial information. Some 76,000 records containing personal identification information from students who attended the college was also hacked. “We speculate this was a professional, coordinated attack by one or more hackers,” said Northwest Florida State College President, Ty Handy, in a memo that went out to employees in this week. According to Florida College System Chancellor Randy Hanna in a statement. “While some of the contact information is dated, we will be trying to reach every student whose records may have been captured.” Because of the scope of the breach, Federal Authorities have joined the local and state investigation that got under way last week, confirmed the authority.

The breach occurred sometime between late May and late September. College officials said in a news release that 50 employees to date have reported issues with identity theft, including the college president, faculty and staff. The information has been used to either obtain personal loans or to take out a Home Depot credit card.

Pro-Government TV news Network of Syria has been compromised. Syria's state broadcaster confirmed this on Sunday that the text message news service of a separate, pro-government TV station had been hacked. A headline displayed on state Syria tv said: "The administration of Addounia draws the attention of its subscribers to the fact that it has temporarily halted its SMS service, and calls citizens to be wary of the false messages being sent now."
Separate headlines on Addounia cautioned against a text message asking people "to avoid public squares for security reasons," and advised that its subscribers ignore all SMS messages on its service until further notice. The station was the target of European Union sanctions imposed on Syria in September, in response to President Bashar al-Assad's bloody crackdown on mass protests - and, increasingly, an armed insurgency - against his rule.

Few days ago Anonymous has hacked the CBS Broadcasting of US. They managed to gain access on CBS Server and deleted everything.

Greece Under Cyber Attack, Anonymous Bring Down The Website Of Greek Ministry of Justice 

After releasing the sensitive conference call now hacker collective group Anonymous has targeted the cyber fence of Greece. They have launched a cyber-attack on the Greek Ministry of Justice website, and warned of plans to target a further 300 ministry and media sites. The hack was apparently a protest against the Greek government's signing of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), which is designed to reduce internet piracy. 

"You have introduced a new dictatorship upon your people's shoulders and allowed the bankers and the monarchs of the EU to enslave them both economically and politically," the group's message said. "You have joined the IMF (International Monetary Fund) against your people's acquiescence…democracy was given birth in your country but now you have killed it," the hackers added.

In a message left on the Greek Justice Ministry's website, the group threatened to take down 'all the media in Greece' unless the Greek government retracts its support for the global treaty, which Britain has also signed. The website was briefly listed as 'under construction' following the attack, but was amended to display the following message from the online collective:
'We know EVERYTHING, We have your PASSWORDS , We are watching YOU.
NEXT TARGET WILL BE ALL THE MEDIA IN GREECE. ( ertTV , etc )

Protest against controversial act called SOPA, PIPA & ACTA continues. Anonymous hackers from Sweden stated a campaign named "#OpIreland" and mounted DDoS attacks against the websites of the aforementioned politician and junior minister Seán Sherlock, and the Departments of Finance and Justice last week, and sent them offline for certain time. Last night this hacker group turned their sights towards a number of websites tun by the Department of Foreign Affairs, but this time they took it upon themselves to do more damage. As a result the have breached the security and stolen senstivie data such as Full Name, Email-id, Password. All the leaks are posted on a pastebin release by the hacker group. In a twitter release @AnonOpsSweden took responsibility of this security breach.

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed the breach but said that other servers belonging to the Department were not compromised. The Irish Aid website is still down as the Department's IT specialists are investigating the matter.

The lawyer for wikileaks founder Julian Assange says he may be among the people hacked by Rupert Murdoch's now-shuttered "News of the World" newspaper in the U.K.
In a tweet, high-profile lawyer Mark Stephens said he may have been hacked along with other lawyers, and was awaiting a police meeting.
Stephens is representing Assange in a sexual assault case in Sweden.

Mr Stephens told Britain's Channel 4 News he contacted Scotland Yard to ask if his phone had been targeted. He said: "I asked them if I'd been hacked - they came back to me in 90 mins and said yes. "It confirmed my worst suspicions," he told the British TV channel. Mr Stephens's former clients include James Hewitt, who had an affair with Princess Diana, and most recently the WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange
Britain's "News of the World" newspaper was shutdown this month after allegations the paper's journalists paid police for information and hacked into the voicemails of young murder victims and the grieving families of dead soldiers.
The paper is owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who was grilled by the U.K. Parliament this week over the abuse of journalistic practices by that paper.

14 Guys Arrested By FBI in Operation Targeting Anonymous

The FBI has conducted more than a dozen raids and made more than a dozen arrests across the United States in connection with the Anonymous computer hacking investigation.

The officials described the sweep as a "major" law enforcement operation and say there have been 14 arrests nationwide.

FBI agents conducted raids at four New York residences as well as locations in California, New Jersey and Florida Tuesday in connection with the investigation.

Agents seized computers and computer accessories under search warrants at four homes of suspected hackers in Baldwin and Merrick both on Long island, in Brooklyn and the Bronx. The allegations are that the network of hackers allegedly carried out distributed denial of service attacks on numerous victims including corporations and their websites.

The amorphous, loosely organized group of hackers sympathetic to WikiLeaks has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks against corporate and government websites around the world. The news comes as Anonymous claimed a cyberattack that shut down the website of Rupert Murdoch's Times newspaper.

In addition, Anonymous has been linked to cyber attacks at the CIA, Sony, Fox News, the Arizona Department of Corrections and a well-known consulting firm, Booz Allen Hamilton, among others.

The group is implicated in denial-of-service attacks, in which large amounts of traffic are directed to a website, overloading it and, in effect, shutting it down.

The FBI in New York refused to confirm Tuesday's actions involved Anonymous. "These search warrants are being executed in connection with an ongoing FBI investigation," said FBI spokesman Peter Donald.
